3 MONTHS OF DOMAN PROGRAM GIULIA STARTS READING AT AGE 9!

Giulia was about 3 months old when her parents noticed her eyes were squinting. By 16 months she began to walk, but they noticed there was an awkwardness to her movement. Around 2 years of age when Giulia started attending kindergarten, her teachers noticed delays in manual-motor functions as well as her speech. At age 4, she had her life’s only seizure, which started her off on anticonvulsant medication. By age 7, she was diagnosed with Succinic Semialdehyde Dehydrogenase (SSADH) deficiency, a rare disorder associated with developmental delay.

Over the course of their search for answers and help for Giulia, her parents took the Doman Method® Course: From Special Needs to Wellness offered in Italian language, when she was 9 years old. At this time she was not yet reading. Her understanding was below peer level and she wasn’t yet able to write. Physically, however, she was doing well albeit the awkwardness in her movements. She could run and even did gymnastics.

Within 3 months of starting the program, Giulia and her family came for their very first Advanced Doman Appointment in Fauglia, Italy. They had done a good program of crawling on belly, creeping on hands and knees, the Patterning Program as well as the Doman Reading Program. Giulia had seen 300 words and had begun reading sentences at this time. In her evaluation, she read all the words presented to her and she was accurate in their meaning and understanding. While Giulia is working her way up to reading at age-level, her ability to read over a hundred words gave her a Reading Victory. All within 3 months of starting the reading program for a 9-year old!!

Giulia also demonstrated that not only can she run, but she can easily run over a 100 meters nonstop, walk a nonstop distance of 1.6 kilometers and she continues to excel at her gymnastics routines!

Her parents were proud to share that Giulia’s overall understanding and interaction has also improved during this time.

We congratulate Giulia and her family for their wonderful efforts!!
