Elle graduates from her Doman Method® Program (Autism)

Elle was diagnosed as autistic. She was hypersensitive to sounds and too sensitive to touch. She recognized letters of the alphabet but could not read. Her speech was disorganized, she spoke in third person, and in short phrases.

Elle’s parents began a Doman Method program when she was six years old. To improve her coordination and balance, Elle did a lot of creeping on her hands and knees and crawling on her belly. Elle learned how to read in Norwegian and English with the help of the Doman Method Reading Program. Parents did a consistent Doman Method Sensory Program to gradually reduce Elle’s hypersensitivities to sounds and touch.

As Elle’s reading improved, she and her parents expanded their cognitive program from reading homemade books to homeschooling her in mathematics and encyclopedic knowledge. Elle made progress in her physical abilities, and with her improved balance and stamina she went on to do the Doman Method Aerobic Running Program and gymnastics. She excelled in her physical capabilities beyond peers at her age-level.

Developmentally, she improved in many different areas. Her speech not only increased to speaking many words and in sentences, but it also became organized in grammar and coherency. Her conversation skills and storytelling abilities also improved and with these changes, she began to make many friends. Elle became a voracious reader and began to write - she could now read books and write letters!

Physically, she was above age level and was socially very mature and competent.

After two years of a consistent Doman Method program for special needs, both her parents and the team at Doman International felt that Elle was ready to join her peers in school.

Now, Elle is back at school and enjoys it a lot.

Elle’s mother says, “For Elle, the Doman Method Program has completely changed her life. She is more social, has friends, participates in gymnastics practice and piano lessons. She is happier, healthier, and thriving more than ever.”

The staff at Doman International are proud to award to Elle and her family, Graduation to Life!
