Neima Regains Her Sights, Hearing, and Ability to Move! (Epilepsy)

Neima was a well-child. She began to walk at 12 months, could talk, and was developing well until the age of 16 months when she suffered an illness. The illness caused her to be in a coma for 17 days. When she came out of the coma, she had lost her sight, her ability to hear, to speak, to feel well, and to move.

Neima’s parents attended the Online Doman Method® Course: From Special Needs to Wellness and immediately started the Doman Method Program. At the time, Neima was 3 years of age. She could not move, had poor hearing and vision, could speak about 10 words of speech, and could not read. As part of the Doman Method, parents did an intensive Sensory Stimulation Program, Physical Program to get her moving, and Reading Program to improve her vision and comprehension.

Three months after parents attended the course, they attended their first online Doman International Appointment. Even though she had only done the program for 3 months, Neima showed great results. The intensive sensory stimulation helped to get Neima to see and hear again. Parents reported that after only 2 months of light reflex stimulation, she had begun to regain her sight. Parents had shown her over 300 reading words and had begun with showing her homemade books during this time. They also gave a lot of opportunities for Neima to move down the inclined floor. Soon after they began with the physical program, she began being able to crawl 1 meter on the flat floor.

At her evaluation, Neima demonstrated her ability to recognize any word she had seen in her Reading Program and answered correctly to a question from a homemade book she read. Neima showed that she enjoys reading. After just 3 months of the program, she can crawl 160 meters on her belly on the flat floor! She crawls over obstacles 8 times a day which has prepared her for learning to sit on her own. She can get up onto her hands and knees independently, which is necessary to get her ready to learn to creep forward!

Along with her newfound mobility, she now has more than 30 words of speech and has started to use some words together in couplets!

Despite everything she’s been through, Neima has not stopped enjoying life. She has a wonderful, happy personality and loves joking around, laughing with everyone she meets! She enjoys playing with other children and is improving every day. Her family says: “Neima loves laughing. She loves jokes and she participates in conversations and when we laugh or have fun, so does she!”

Congratulations to Neima and her family for all of their hard work and dedication. We applaud their efforts to help her improve and develop in every area of function.
